Senior Progolf Tour Event

Longniddry has agreed to host a 54 hole event for the Senior Progolf Tour from 13-15th July. The tournament is held each year prior to the qualifying for the Senior British Open and normally has players from as far afield as the USA and Singapore as well as players from the home countries. This will be the first professional competition held at Longniddry since the Pringle of Scotland Seniors Championship in 1970 and we're delighted to be involved.

Integrated Winter Stableford Competition

After the final round of the above competition which was played on Sunday 21st March, Scott Jackson pipped Charlie Tulloch by one point to take the Miss SM MacCallum & JG Blyth Quaich. Well done!

Winter League 2009-10

Having led the league for most of the season, Longniddry finished proud runners-up to Gullane. Following our promotion last season coupled with the ''cut throat'' league format this season our goal was to primarily survive the relegation threat in order to compete in Division 1 again over season 2010-2011. Finishing second and mounting a very serious challenge for top spot really shows the quality within our squad and our future potential in this competitive league.

Billy Gordon

We have just been advised that the funeral of Billy Gordon who sadly passed away on the golf course on 17th February will take place at Seafield Crematorium on Saturday 27th February at 10.00.

New Year Honours

We are delighted to announce that two of our Lady Members have been awarded honours in the Queen's New Year Honours List.

Deirdre Kinloch Anderson, a Director of the Club has been awarded an OBE for services to the textile industry, while Dr Maria Graham has been awarded an MBE for services to Polish-Scottish relations and to medicine. We offer warm congratulations to both ladies for their achievements.

Winter League 2009-10

Longniddry's good form continued on Sunday 13th December with a good 3-2 home win over Royal Musselburgh which should keep our team in top spot.

On Sunday 6th December, Longniddry had a halved match at North Berwick with Tantallon to remain unbeaten in this year's campaign.

Longniddry remain top of the table after an excellent home win over Dunbar on Sunday 29th November by 3.5 matches to 1.5.

After an excellent away draw with Craigielaw on October 18th, Longniddry had a tremendous 3.5 to 1.5 home win against Kilspindie played in horrendous conditions on November 1st.

Medal Winners' Medal

On 24th October, the Peter Barr Trophy was won by Duncan Martin with a scratch 70 while Kenny McGregor won the Teesdale Trophy with a net 74. Well done guys!

O pen Competitions

On Saturday 4th July, the Gents Handicap Open was won by Alex Craik of Duns Golf Club with a net 61 - an excellent score! With Allan & Avril Trickett of the same having won the Mixed Open on June 13th, it seems Duns members like the Longniddry course!

Also on Saturday, Karl Parks of Hunley Hill GC scored a hole-in-one at the 16th hole and was presented with a litre of gin by the Club.

Ladies vs Gents Match: 22nd June

In a closely contested match between 16 teams on each side, the Gents' team captained by Norman Elliott retained the Merlinlee Trophy by winning 8.5 matches to 7.5. After the match, the 64 participants enjoyed a light supper and the clubhouse was buzzing!

Zack Saltman retains Durward Trophy

On August 16th, Zack Saltman of Craigielaw became only the 3rd player in its history to successfully defend the Durward Trophy awarded to the winner of the Longniddry 36 Hole Scratch Open.

Zack and playing partner Myles Cunningham of Longniddry, had matching scores of 69 & 66 but Zack retained the trophy with an inward half of 32 in the second round to pip Myles by a shot despite taking 6 at the last.

Lothians Team Tournament

Having won the Tournament in 2007 for only the second time in its 80 year history, we're delighted to announce that Longniddry won this event which took place on July 26th 2008 and retains the trophy which has been on display in the lounge.

Our team comprised Andrew (Gus) Fergusson & Scott Hardie who were level par at Castle Park, and Chris Wood & Malcolm Graham who were due to play at Gullane No 1 but it was unplayable due to fog so the 142 by Messrs Ferguson & Hardie won by 1 stroke from Craigielaw. Well done lads!

Sam Torrance recommends Longniddry

In a recent feature in the Scotsman newspaper, Sam Torrance, one of Scotland's golfing legends, listed Longniddry as one of his top 5 'hidden gem' courses in Scotland. He particularly likes the driveable dogleg par 4, 5th hole. Sam says Longniddry is a fabulous course - great praise indeed!
